UX 101

All projects are different but if you need a UX 101 I break this activity down into 3 chunks.

1 Discovery

Discovering insights is a very important step in the user centred design process. I conduct research to generate qualitative and quantitative data, uncovering key insights that lead to great ideas and highlight opportunities I get to know your customers – not just their demographic. I want to know what motivates them, what do they really want from you and what affects their behaviour.

Techniques include

  • Stakeholder interviews
  • In-depth interviews
  • User observation
  • Focus groups
  • Competitor analysis
  • Metrics analysis
  • Personas

2 Ideas

I specialise in turning these insights into great ideas or product improvements, but it’s not necessarily a one man show. Idea generation should be collaborative and often visualised through energetic workshops and participatory design techniques.

Techniques include:

  • Visioning workshops
  • Concept sketches
  • Paper prototypes
  • Experience scenarios
  • High level user flows

3 Delivery

Putting all the research, insights, and ideas into actionable items

  • Wireframes
  • Detailed user flows
  • Functioning prototypes
  • Usability testing

I thrive on innovation in a constantly developing, results driven market and I also like to dive hanging out with sharks whenever I get the chance.
